Re: stop 0x0000007b error
Hello lgroger,
There are few discussions already available on this forum regarding the same error with solutions. I think you should check out them. Hope you will get your fix. Here they are:

fixed most of the problem
I managed to fix most of the problem. I did a repair install. In order to get it to recognize the disc before going to the blue screen, I had to hit (F2 I think) to get to the setup and change the cd drive to be ahead of the hard drive in the list of drives to attempt to boot from. Then I followed instructions I had found online. Then, windows worked fine and I could get to all my old files. However, the CD/DVD drive still had a corrupt driver. I had to run regedit and delete a specific file that I had read about online (I think it was lower_limits and upper_limits). After a restart, it seemed to work fine because the drive showed up in "My computer" again. It will read data discs and recognize blank cd-r discs and eject on command, but when you click on the blank cd-r icon to try to burn to it, it says "D:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function." Anyone have suggestions?
