While my machine was not a stock item from a large OEM like HP, I do
have an nVidia-based card (an eVGA 8800GTS [PCI-e] w/320MB on-board
VRAM).
I've never had a problem with this card, under either XP OR Vista.
My system:
Intel DG33TL motherboard, w/INTEL Core2 Duo @2.66GHZ (E6750)
4GB Dual-Channel RAM @667MHz. 1336MHz FSB.
Windows Vista Ultimate w/SP1 (RTM from Microsoft)
SATA-II @500GB, 1xSATA-CD/DVD-DL writer
What is your Windows Experience Index?
Mine is at 5.5
