Re: Printer Installation Error 0x000006be
I bumped upon this thread since I had the same trouble installing a
network HP Color LaserJet 3550 on my Windows Vista Ultimate machine. The
initial error (0x000006be) is identical. I hope I'm not bumping an old
thread, but I thought it's better to continue in the same problem thread
instead of creating a new one! (:
Here's my current setup: I have a US Robotics router with print service
support. I've configured the printer in both XP and Ubuntu without
having any trouble, but I'm not able to do this in Vista Ultimate! The
printer itself is available on my network on
http://192.168.1.1:1631/printers/My_Printer.
I've downloaded the most recent 32-bit Vista drivers from HP.com
(version 61.063.461.41 - 16 Jul 2007) where the *hpbmini.dll* version is
1.0.0.19. From what I've read in this thread I think that I shouldn't
have any trouble with this particular version number, since it's higher
than .18, but I still get that error after installing the printer
through my network (0x000006be error).
If I connect the printer locally through an USB port under Vista, then
everything goes fine: I don't have any problems printing. Does this mean
that this isn't driver-related?
I've carefully read the -How to clean up printer drivers- pages, but
didn't proceed with that yet, since it seemed to be specific to XP and
2003.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed? Or if any
information is missing, please inform me as well!
Re: Printer Installation Error 0x000006be
this is the error
C:\>winerror 0x000006be
1726 RPC_S_CALL_FAILED <--> 0xc002001b RPC_NT_CALL_FAILED
this can occur if the spooler service terminates on the client or the
spooler service is not running on the print server.
Since the print server is not Windows, there is no spooler service, however
the router may be emulating rpc calls which have changed since XP. Verify
the print spooler service is running on the client when you receive this
error.
If it is, it sounds like the spooler is attempting to create a true rpc
connection rather than an HTTP connection to the device. Does the router
support any other print services? Raw 9100 or LPD perhaps?
