If I am double clicking on the Excel 2003 xls file that I have, then all of a sudden Excel 2007 will normally take too much of time, like lets say around 40 seconds, to open the file. I am however able to delay this thing by minimizing Excel at which point it immediately maximizes itself and then opens the file again? Any ideas?
Even I am facing similar kind of issues just like you, can anyone pleas help us out? Thanks.
Some more update, a couple of days after installing Office 2007, the xls files were starting to open in Excel 2003 again by default, weird.
I am also having similar issue, but didnt know about the minimize solution even though it works just fine. I will try filemon and regmon to check if I can find something or so. When I first checked it then I tried to open an attachment from Outlook and thought that it might be the problem. After that when I saved it to my hard drive, it still took a long time to open. Incase I find any proper fix, I will let you know about it.
Did you check whether you have any addins installed? I usually had 2 and when I removed them both, then it started to work like normal.
I disabled the office live plugin and now it appears to be open fast again.
circle office button > settlings > plugins > go on com type > uncheck
