I recently added a server 2003 DC to my 2000 domain. I have tried to demote my 2000 CD but I am getting a message that states "This domain controller is a Global Catalog server." Can anyone tell me how to move the global catalog server to my new DC? Thanks
You need to go to ADS&S and then expand the site. After that click on the new DC and then scroll down to NTDS settings. After that right click and select properties. Now you have to check the box for Global Catalog. After that click ok. Now you have to give the Directory time to cook, depending upon the size and the move all FSMO roles to the new DC and then demote the old DC. Hope that works.

or
Domain naming master and Global Catalogue server are not placed in same why??
Can u provide the reason...............
