0x80070017 during install
I wanted to install Vista on one of my office desktops. I went to MSDN subscriber area, checked SHA1 value and downloaded respective Vista 32bit ISO file. There was no problem during the downloaded. Burned ISO on two DVDs.but when I ran the setup/installation, it gives me an error message stating:
“Windows cannot copy files required for the installation. The files may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070017”
I don’t know what could be the problem. I am trying to do a clean install. Can anyone please help me out with this? Many thanks.
Re: 0x80070017 during install
Such problem occurs either when your ISO file is corrupt or there was some problem while burning the DVD. Probably if you had burned the DVD on full speed. So first make sure ISO is correct, not corrupted. Get a new DVD and burn it again at the slowest speed.
Re: 0x80070017 during install
Thank you very much for the help friend but that too doesn’t seems to be working for me. As you said I burned a new DVD on slowest speed as well. Infact burned 2 DVDs, but still I get the same error but now it occurs when the setup reaches at 94% of “Expanding Files”.
What else should I try to get rid of this annoying issue?
Re: 0x80070017 during install
I had exactly same error couple of months ago but in my case I was trying to put 64bit Vista over 32bit. Any how I managed to fix the problem. What I did was I started x64 installation and select the format partition and
didn't get the problem again (all this with the same burnt media DVD). You can give a try, hope it can help you too.
Re: 0x80070017 during install
Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions...I burnt the image to a DVD-RW instead of a DVD-R and it worked first time.
Many thanks for your Advice.
