File missing Office 2003 setup
I am trying to install Office 2003 on one of my computer but every time I run the setup it goes upto about 45% and tells me “CS561401.cab is missing” along with a browse button. I don’t know where to browse and point the installation hence first I did search for this file but dint found it anywhere.
Tried running the setup various times, even restarted PC many times with yet the same problem. Somebody please help.
Re: File missing Office 2003 setup
Is this a fresh install or you are trying to re-install Office again? Was there any Trail version installed earlier and you are trying to install purchased Office 2003? Anyways, let me tell you that if there was any earlier version or any Trail office suite is already installed, you must first remove it from your system completely. By the term completely I mean you need to delete its registry entries, files and folders as well.
To do this you can download Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and run the same. It will help you to clean out Office installations form your system and later there will be no problem in the installation. You can download the same from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2639197
Re: File missing Office 2003 setup
Thanks for the help friend, it was a reinstallation. Since last few days my Office Applications were crashing randomly hence I uninstalled it from Add and Remove programs and was trying to install it again. Anyways, meanwhile I found something else.
Actually earlier my Office was installed through a network source and not from the CD I was trying to use this time. Hence I guess it was missing the file (I guess that file was is not on my disk). But thanks for you suggestion. I used the Windows Installer Cleanup and I was able to install my Office without any problem. Thank you.
