Found a way to deal with ghost emails...

Hello friends, today I came here to share a tip regarding ghost emails. As I have been working on this since couple of days, finally found a way and thought to share here. Lets start:

• First of all take backup of your entire Windows mail to be on safer side.
• Now navigate to the following location: c:\users\yourloginname\appdata\local\microsoft\windows mail
• Copy this folder on D drive, or you can also move it to your pen drive.
• Now in this folder (above location) you will find a file named “WindowsMail.MSMessageStore”. Just delete it.

Now start Windows mail again. It will start normally as always and a new folder will be created automatically as its store location. But there will be no more Ghost Emails. Now we need to work with the COPIED FOLDER on D drive.

Open that folder, open Local Folders that is inside the main folder. Here right click each folders and delete the ones whose size is 0 bytes. You will see "Windows Mail E-Mail Message". Drag and drop all your emails and messages to their original location. Just make sure you don’t copy the file named "Winmail.fol.”

I have a small doubt here. Should I search and delete the folder with 0 bytes before or after getting local folders?

When you go to Local Folders, you will fine several eml files under various directories that match the WinMail folders. Here what you just need to do is delete the msmessagestore file in the top Windows Mail directory and then delete the one in the backup\new directory and then restart WinMail. That’s it.
