If you dont know till yet I wanted to inroduce you to EasyBCD software which has many options to rename or re-order or change the boot options. I was previously using Bcdedit.exe but it was very hard to use and it is also very time conuming and painful. EasyBCD on the other hand has got few extra items like fixing the XP boot if you want to delete Vista from a dual boot system. So, I just wanted you all to know to check the software out, it is a very handy tool.
Well, for dual boot I am using VistaBootPRO but both VistaBootPRO and EasyBCD are designed for you to edit the startup options, including the addition of other operating systems. No file to edit: you only have to give a name to the entry, specify the letter of the partition on which the system is located and VistaBootPRO does the rest. It is a very comfortable software when it comes to live with several versions of Windows, however, it is more limited than its competitor in the field of Linux. At this detail, it offers almost the same features, including a few "tweaks" for booting Vista and the ability to restore the "bootloader" of Vista or even uninstalling it.
Windows Vista introduced a new "bootloader", the configuration (to use Windows XP in addition to Vista, for example) is not necessarily easy, and requires through a text file. EasyBCD is one of utilities to simplify the process. The software proposes several options for setting the default operating system, to add additional entries to the boot menu (older versions of Windows, Linux, etc) and change their order, to restore the bootloader Vista, or even uninstall it to restore the Windows XP.
You can even try out Visual BCD Editor which is a GUI version of the command-line utility for Windows, bcdedit. It is designed to customize BCD objects. It is the first GUI utility to implement full editing of Windows 7/Vista BCD store. The user can see and edit every detail in a browser known as structure. It is also possible to create a new bootloader sector (Linux, Ubuntu, Mac OS X) for Windows 7/Vista/XP with simple clicks and selections.
