Cannot perform update; getting error code ox-80070057

When update have to be installed, I get error code ox80070057.
Updates are enabled and updates-link is incorporated in allowed links of
Pop-blocker
Any idea what's wrong? Thanks in advance.

This error indicates that the Windows HTTP proxy settings are invalid.
To resolve this problem, remove the HTTP proxy settings. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
2. Type Proxycfg.exe, and then press ENTER.
The current proxy settings are displayed.
3. Type Proxycfg –d, and then press ENTER to remove the proxy settings.
Check BITS is started
4. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
5. Double-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service.
6. In the General tab, click Start.
