Thank you for that info. But that tool is too expensive
for me.
I just want to copy a couple of users with their
passwords and group memberships to a different server.
This is a realtively easy task on Unix (just copy the
passwd file over), but it seems impossible on Windows :-(

Yes, that is why I suggest you use "Member Server Migrator (MSVR-Migrator)"
since there is not built-in tool to achieve this goal. Most tools to
migrate the domain user account instead of memeber server.
