Windows 2003 - Event ID: 2000 Source: Srv

My System Event log on my Win 03 AD/DNS server is showing a lot of the
following:



Event ID: 2000 Source: Srv





"The server's call to a system service failed unexpectedly"



Data: (Words Option)

What I have found when I see these errors is that the DNS server is not
responsive, and the entire server seems sluggish when logged in as the local
admin. During this period of errors the server can't map drives or
communicate with DNS. However it appears that users can still connect to
fileshares on the server and use the hosted Databases.



I have been searching through multiple forums and MS-KB's and can't find
enough leads to begin working on this...



Anyone?

I've discovered one of our servers suffering the same complaint. I've done a little looking around other forums.
1) Is your system Windows 2003 (not SP1)?
2) Is the following Security Patch applied. KB896422?

If the answer to both questions is "Yes". The resolution is to
1) Apply SP1 or
2) Remove KB896422 (via add/remove programs).
