Intel Pentium G3258 safe overclocking temperature?
I am having an Asus motherboard on which I am using Intel Pentium G3258 CPU and I have overclocked this processor at 4.4Ghz at 1.3v. After running the Prime95 software the temperature that I was getting was 75C and the maximum that I had was 80C. So, can anyone tell me what is the safe temperature for this CPU? I was trying to get it over 4.7ghz but I want some suggestions if it will be good to go for it? Thanks
Re: Intel Pentium G3258 safe overclocking temperature?
If you are getting a 80C temperature then it should be at average for over 20 or some odd seconds but if you are getting 90C then it should be only for short duration of 1-2 seconds peaks. If it continuously stays on 80C then it is a risk to carry such overclocking. The main thing is that you should get a stability first and if there is any trouble then it is not suggested to raise the vCore anymore. You should try to downclock the CPU cache or else the RAM for stability.
Re: Intel Pentium G3258 safe overclocking temperature?
Your temperature seems a bit higher than mine with the same setup but with MSI gaming motherboard and same Intel Pentium G3258 CPU. I have also overclocked my CPU to 4.8ghz at 1.44v and when I am playing games on my pc then I am getting temperature reading between 70-80C. I even had some blue screen of death problem so I used another memory from OC genie and now its overclocked at 4.3ghz at 1.325v playing games at a temperature of only 60C. So, it seems that it is not worth to overclock this CPU much higher.

There might be a option called Load Line Caliberation which you might need to turn off becayse it might cause dangerous spikes in the voltage. I will also suggest you to run the memory sticks at reduced clocks at 1.5v and it will be also good to run the CPU Vcore at 1.3v or below. This will definitely give you a stability while at load or gaming, which is also reduce the temperature of the CPU to a larger extent.
