is my i7-4790k overclock fine?
I am using an Asus board and also Intel i7-4790k processor. I have recently overclocked my CPU to 4.5ghz with 1.27v. The amount of RAM that I am using is 2133mhz. Can anyone tell me whether this voltage is too high or not? I have also tested OCCT for 30 minutes and it was not failing as well. Do I need to perform some other tests as well, if so then can anyone tell me what other tests I should make? Thanks for any guidance.
Re: is my i7-4790k overclock fine?
If you were getting higher voltage rate than 1.425 then it would have been a problem but it seems that you have got yourself a good chip and a good overclock having only 1.27v. This voltage seems to be fine totally. In any case, have you tried your luck on getting lower voltages that that? Previously, I had overclocked my cousins Intel i7-4790K processor and I we were getting it to 4.6ghz overclock rate with a bit low voltage using the same 2133mhz RAM speed as well.
Re: is my i7-4790k overclock fine?
Well, when I tried lower than that like for an instance, 1.2v then it was failing and not working. I would also like to mention that with my actual overclock the temperature that I was getting was a bit high. But when I was running OCCT then I used to get temperatures from 60C to 75C and sometime it was also reaching 85C. I am using the Antec H20 cooler and the artic thermal paste. Can anyone tell me whether this is a normal temperature or it is too high?
Re: is my i7-4790k overclock fine?
Can you tell us what is your ambient temperature? What bathc of the chip you are using? I hope that you are not stress testing it as well. But with that cooler and so much of lower voltage I can only think that you will have to speed up your fan speed or else try to replce the thermal paste. It might be possible that the thermal paste might have run out or burn in time. The readings might be also wrong so try to download the CPU temperature and checking the temperature out again.
