How to overclock AMD Athlon 5350
I was recently given an AMD Athlon 5350 processor by one of close friends. I was wondering if this processor can be overclocked. And if it is possible then how far can we reach the clock rates. Also what different settings we have to use for overclocking this CPU? Is the overclocking capability of this CPU any good? Anyone who can answer this question would be highly appreciated. Thank you.
Re: How to overclock AMD Athlon 5350
You cannot expect much overclocking rates from these Kabini APUs with Jaguar processor cores and therefore this CPUs are given at such a low cost. Most of the AM1 motherboards out there are also not having any support for overclocking the CPUs from within their setup area. But there are some mobo's like the ASUS AM1I-A that can give basic overclocking support. With this mobo, you can adjust the APU/memory frequency, CPU ratio, Dram timings and many other things in the BIOS.
Re: How to overclock AMD Athlon 5350
Some say that it is not possible to overclock AMD Athlon 5350 while others agree that it can be overclocked. But many users are assuming that it can be overclocked atleast using the Front-Side bus. But there are limited motherboards that can be used to achieve it, like the Asus AM1M-A ITX motherboard mentioned above. You might get at the max from 2.05ghz with is its stock to atleast 2.5ghz clock rate. But note that you will need this Asus motherboard only.
Re: How to overclock AMD Athlon 5350
The Athlon 5350 processor are basically entry-level AMD APUs and this CPU is one of the highest-end AM1 APU in the lineup so far. As for overclocking this APU, you can try to raise its ratio from 20.5 to 21. Also, while raising this ration you can also raise to 105mhz frequency which would give you a clock speed of 2.20ghz but with the DDR3-1680mhz for the system memory.
