Corsair 600W PSU good for overclocking
I am looking to purchase Asus M5A97 EVO and use AMD FX-6300 processor on it. I am already having a Corsair 600W power supply with M5A78L-LE motherboard and I dont know whether it will good enough for overclocking the CPU on this board or not. I want to reach atleast 4.0ghz of overclocking with my system. I dont know if the new motherboard will be able to overclock with the setup that I have or not. So I need some expert opinions about it. Thanks
Re: Corsair 600W PSU good for overclocking
Have you got the Corsair CX600 Power Supply or the CORSAIR Gaming Series GS600 PSU? If you have the CX600 then you might have to replace it and get yourself a GS600 which should be fine for overclocking the FX-6300 on your motherboard. Also the best mobo with a 970 chipset for overclocking would be the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P. The gaming series of the Corsair PSU will definitely help you to overclock and achieve above 4.0ghz and it will give you good FPS while gaming as well.
Re: Corsair 600W PSU good for overclocking
Well, if you are looking to overclock on your current motherboard then there is a chance for your motherboard to get damaged. With the FX-6300 processor the M5A78L-LE mobo will not stand up to any sort of overclock, you must avoid it completely. As said above, the best motherboard to go with the CPU and for overclocking would be the gigabyte motherboard recommended above. If you upgrade to that mobo then it is fine to go with the Corsair 600W PSU that you have.
Re: Corsair 600W PSU good for overclocking
Can you tell us what CPU cooler you are using? If you are using the stock coolers on the CPU then it will be a bit risky, as overclocking the CPU will definitely overheat it and the stock coolers wont give enough cooling. So, you will have to purchase a good aftermarket cooler. You can go with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus that will easily fit on the CPU. It comes at a very cheap rate and it will also be able to handle overclocking above 4.1ghz for sure. Hope this helps.
