Kingston V300 SSD firmware question
I am looking to purchase the Kingston V300 SSD 120GB model because it comes at a very low price compared to other models with same space. But I came to know recently that Kingston has changed the SSD from synchronous to asynchronous memory in the new firmware which is making it much slower than before and hence many users are not happy with it? So, if anyone can tell me whether this problem is fixed or not?
Re: Kingston V300 SSD firmware question
Yes, I have also heard that this slowness problem happens with this Kingston V300 SSD because of the new firmware released. The same SSD with old firmware version 505 are still having good performance where as those with the newer firmware version 506 are facing slow performance of the SSD.
Re: Kingston V300 SSD firmware question
I was also facing the same issue when I purchased this SSD long time back. I have installed it in Extreme4's Intel Sata3-connection and the cable used is also Sata3 cable. When I ran a test under Crystaldiskmark then it shows only 200mb/s speed. The other Vertex 4 SSD that I am using gives me more than 400mb/s, so there is definitely something wrong with the kingston ssd. In the end I finally exchanged it for a Samsung SSD.
Re: Kingston V300 SSD firmware question
I would definitely ask you not to purchase this Kingston V300 SSD. The new firmware version 506 is completely broken and still now kingston has not offered any new firmware update to solve the slow performance of this drive. Instead of the Kingston V300 SSD you should better purchase the Samsung 840 120GB SSD.
