AMD A8-3800 overclocking question
I am having an Acer Aspire M3470 that comes with an AMD A8-3800 APU Quad-Core at 2.4ghz. It also seems to be having a onboard Radeon HD 6550D graphics card. I was wondering if would be able to overclock the video card. If it is not possible then can I atleast overclock the CPU in anyways? Thanks for any assistance.
Re: AMD A8-3800 overclocking question
I would guess that the CPU might bottleneck perhaps. Eve if you overclock that CPU then it will not stand in comparision with the card that is stock. You can overclock the GPU if you want but there will be a little 4fps gain with it. This also depends on how demanging the software is because if it is very heavy then you might not see more than 4-5fps or such.
Re: AMD A8-3800 overclocking question
I have heard that the APUs multiplier is locked and therefore I dont think that the memory will be able to handle an FSB overclock. You might need to buy a new motherboard and a new CPU for overclocking purpose. Also, it might not be having any heatsink which is needed for cooling down the CPU temperature a bit.
Re: AMD A8-3800 overclocking question
Well, I would like to tell you that you dont have a GPU in your system but an APU that comes with the CPU + GPU together. So, I will not suggest you to overclock your system that you have because there are no proper cooling that you have mentioned that you are going to use. Usually you can do some testing by going into BIOS and overclock the CPU but when it black outs, then you will need to stop.
