i5 3570k overclocking wont pass 4.1ghz
I am using the new Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge which is at 3.4ghz at stock. I am now trying to overclock it to atleast 4.2ghz but if I am trying to run the Intel Burn Test then it comes back as not stable. It is now running at 4.0ghz at the moment and it will only get stable in this Intel Burn Test. Can anyone tell me if this processor are not sufficient for high overclocking or such? Thanks

Can you give us some more information about what BIOS settings are you using? Also what is the voltage and LLC/offset settings you are adjusting? What is the make and model of the power supply you have? If you have left the voltage on auto then you will need to manually configure it to achieve the more ghz from your system.

Yes, if you had kept the voltage on auto then take it off and set it to a value and see that whether it fails with the burn test, then bump up the voltage more. You can try to run at 1.22v that will give you atleast 4.2ghz of overclocking rate as an example. Also, you will require a decent cooler to lower down the temperature that will rise tremendously.

The ivy bridge processor are much hotter than any sandy bridge, you can refer to any review made on same processor to get this information if you would like. If you are overclocking to the higher speeds that you have mentioned, you will have to up the voltages to 1.2v and the normal temperature will rise up to 80c. So, you should get a decent cooler like Hyper 212 for a stable overclock.
