4x1gb pc3200r(ddr400) ram's not working with MSI K8T Master2 FAR7
My system is having a MSI K8T Master2 FAR7 and I have bought 4 x 1 GB pc3200r (ddr400) ram's. The problem that I am facing now is that when I am installing the rams on the board then the system is not booting and posting on the screen. Does that mean there is something wrong with the ram?? Is there anything I can do to confirm the same? I don’t have much idea about all these things so any help regarding this will be highly appreciated.

No booting and posting makes me guess that there might be something wrong with one of the 1 GB pc3200r (ddr400) ram's. I will suggest you to use single ram at a time first and check out if there is anything wrong with any of them. If you find all of them to be working alone then you can start adding the other rams. I mean if the first ram is working fine then you can add other one and check out if the system is booting, if it boots properly then you can add the third one and again make a test. Just check out what I have suggested and let me know what you get for further help.
Re: 4x1gb pc3200r(ddr400) ram's not working with MSI K8T Master2 FAR7
I have tested out the rams one by one and they are appearing to be working fine alone. I have found that when I am using just 2 rams then the system is booting fine but as soon as I am adding third ram then I am hearing beep while booting it up and there is no post on the screen. I don’t think there should be any issues as such and the board should handle 4 x 1 GB pc3200r (ddr400) ram's without any such issues. I have bought them after confirming that they will work fine. What might be the possible cause of the issue, I don’t think there is anything wrong with any of them ram. You can refer to the memory specification of the board for confirming the same.
Memory:
- Max Supported Memory 8.0 GB
- Supported RAM Technology DDR SDRAM
- Supported RAM Speed 200 MHz, 333 MHz, 400 MHz, 266 MHz
- Supported RAM Integrity Check ECC Chipkill , ECC
- Supported RAM (Registered or Buffered)

Now that’s weird, even I don’t think that there should be any issues as such. Anyways can you let me know which cpu your system is using?? I doubt your CPU to be capable of handling pc3200r. Juts post back the details of your cpu so that I can have a better idea of your case and will try to help you with possible solution as well.
Re: 4x1gb pc3200r(ddr400) ram's not working with MSI K8T Master2 FAR7
As far as cpu is concerned I am using AMD Dual-Core Opteron 270. I did not understood what you meant by “I am aware that some of the CPU’s are capable of handling memory above PC-2700 but I doubt if they are capable of handling pc3200r” anyways below is the detail of AMD Dual-Core Opteron 270.
Processor:
- Type - AMD Dual-Core Opteron 270

Re: 4x1gb pc3200r(ddr400) ram's not working with MSI K8T Master2 FAR7
I guess your 4 x 1 GB pc3200r (ddr400) ram's are not fully compatible with the board that’s why only two of them are working out. If that’s not the issue then you can try swapping ram slots and check out if they are working fine all together or not. If you still face the same issues then you can try using the ram in some other system to check out if they are working on different board. If they are working on other board then as I have mentioned they might not be fully compatible with MSI K8T Master2 FAR7.
