How to Install Filezilla on CentOS 5

Previously the default RPMforge repository used to replace any CentOS base packages but then today they don’t do anymore as those packages are now in a separate repository and they are said to be disabled by default,anyways you can just follow the below steps for installing Filezilla on CentOS 5:

First download the rpmforge-release package, one can just chose any one from the below but then make sure that you are selecting the one that will be matching your host’s architecture, if you are not aware of the same then better check out your architecture using command uname –i

i386
x86_64

Here the preferred rpmforge-release package is for retrieving and installing so as to enable one of the above repositories.

Once when you are ready with the above things then Install DAG’s GPG key using the below command:

rpm --import http://apt.sw.be/RPM-GPG-KEY.dag.txt

Then verify the package that you might have downloaded

rpm -K rpmforge-release-0.5.2-2.el5.rf.*.rpm

Now the rpmforge-release package will import GPG keys into your RPM database if you have verified the md5sum of the key injection package and it would be safe as well, you can now install the package using the below command:

rpm -i rpmforge-release-0.5.2-2.el5.rf.*.rpm

Doing this will add a yum repository config file and will import respected GPG keys as well and then you can proceed installing filezilla using the below command.

yum install filezilla
