how can I create lun’s in my hitachi 9990USPV hard drive
I have recently bought Hitachi 9990USPV and I would love to know from you some information about it. How should I create a new lun(Logical unit number) and gradually map it to a host?? And how should I add new host??? Can anyone help me regarding this. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

To create a LUN you should do the following process:
- Connect to storage navigator
- Select the array you think which is suitable and Login
- After you are logged in. click the pen in the top right hand corner and change the modify mode
- Click on the LUSE/VLL icon and Click on the VLL tab
- Gradually expand the box number you want to create LUN
- Expand the parity group you want to create the LDEV
- Select the VDEV and right click on free space and Select install CV
- create a new LDEV/LDEV by following the wizard
- If your connected to an open system then emulation type will be Open-V

After creating and formatting the LDEV, you should map it using LUN manager as follows:
- Click on the LUN manager ICON
- Eventually expand a port to bring the LUN down
- Right click on the port and create a host group and set Host type
- Select the LUN you want to map through the LUN window
- Select and add the H-LUN number in the LUN path, then click ok

Dear friend is the process given by you is same if i have dynamic provisioning?? i am getting confused with these LDEV and VDEV. Are they physical disks? Please clear my doubt. Thanks

Dude the process is different. You should create DP-VOL in the form of V-VOL in the pool. You should refer to dynamic provisioning user guide to enhance your information about this process. As per your doubt. An LDEV is a collectiong of logical blocks in a VDEV and an VDEV is a virtual created on top of a PDEV.
