how to delete lun’s in Hitachi HDS9990USPV hard drive
I am using Hitachi HDS9990USPV hard drive and I have found that pool1 is exceeding the 1st level in dynamic provisioning. So now I have got lun’s(Logical unit number) which I am unable to delete. I want to know how can I delete these lun’s?? any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Re: how to delete lun’s in Hitachi HDS9990USPV hard drive
You should do as following to delete the lun’s:
- Note the Parity group number(PGN) by selecting the LDEV and CU number
- Select GO>>click on LUN Expansion VLL>>select V-VOL
- click on Dynamic Provisioning and select Release V-VOL Groups from pool1
- Select the Parity Group number>>click on set>> click on ok
- Click on Dynamic Provisioning and select parity group and check if they contain any parts or not
- If you don’t find any paths then right click on parity group and select "Delete V-Vol group"

Dear friend is this an unallocated LUN you are having?? If you unallocating an allocate lun then if also you will delete LDEV it will not make any difference. The threshold message will be no more. I would suggest you to add new pool LDEV while you are gradually deleting the DP-VOLS.

No dude it is not an unallocated LUN.It is allocated to some hosts. LUN is now unmounted. I think if I delete this LUN then nil pages will be reclaimed. What should I do now. It is becoming more worse now. Can anyone help me.

I will suggest you to mount the LUN’s on solaris host and make sure it is not UFS formatted. When you will search you will find that all file systems are Thin Provisioning. You should use ZFS or VXFS filesystem for Solaris. If this is not working you can use CLI.hope this helps you. Give me your feedback if it works.
