Does 125w TDP CPUs compatible with Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3H rev 1.0
Right now I own a GA-MA78G-DS3H rev 1.0. The Gigabyte official site says that it does not support anything above TDP of 95w but the other sites says that it can support few 125w TDP processors. I don’t know which one to trust now. So does anyone know whether this motherboard supports AMD Phenom II X4 955 or AMD Phenom II X6 1090T with the F9E BIOS? Is there any BIOS update which will allow?

I think that you should follow the Gigabyte list your particular motherboard. When the issue is about the CPU compatibility, it is recommended to use the Gigabyte list. However it looks like a very old list. I urge you to search for new list if available. But I think board is capable to run 125W CPU but for that you must need updated BIOS. If you have any doubt about this, it would be better to contact the Gigabyte Technical Support.

I didn’t a quick internet search and I also got the Gigabyte list for "supported CPU" for rev. 1.0 motherboard at first. There it should that it can support 95W maximum CPU power. However if you want to get the 125W CPUs, you will need Rev 2.x boards. They can support.

The power rating is nothing to do with the heat generation. It is only related to the CPU power the circuitry. It applies to the voltage regulators, sockets, resistors, etc.
The "Rev 2.x" boards designed for increased the power handling capacity in order to power the high TDP CPUs.
