Linksys WRT120N Wi-Fi Connection Speed Settings
I have bought a new Linksys WRT120N router which is having some issue with the Wi-Fi network. When I connect any smartphone which knows the N speed then the connection speed is only 65mbps which means that the phones are limited to this speed over Wifi. And if I connect any laptop that has N connection speed upto 300mbps then the connection speed shows as 65mbps only? Can anyone tell me if this correct or some settings need to be tweaked.
Re: Linksys WRT120N Wi-Fi Connection Speed Settings
I think that you need to set your security to WPA2-AES and then have all teh N clients for fastest speed. Or maybe the speed will automatically be reduced to 54mbps when a non-N client uses the network. In any case can you tell us what is the speed of your Wireless adapter?
Re: Linksys WRT120N Wi-Fi Connection Speed Settings
Can you try to check for the upgraded drives for the wireless adapter on your laptop's manufacturer website. Have you tried to change the settings under wireless until you have tried all possible combinations to check which one is working best for you including channels. You should also rememeber that you should use WPA2-AES encryption to get higher speeds.
Re: Linksys WRT120N Wi-Fi Connection Speed Settings
It seems that the Linksys WRT120N router has only got a single spatial stream and the max connection rate possible with a 40mhz bandwidth is only 150mbps. The router is a single band router that operates on 2.4ghz only. You can try to set the router to 40mhz only. You will then be able to check connections with 135mbps or even higher from a 802.11n device.
