How to get the Actual% complete vs Planned % complete in MS Projects?
Hi,
I had a couple of queries,
1. How can I get the comparison between Actual% Completion against Planned or Scheduled % completion (what should have been) in MS Projects 2007?
For Example:
I have a task with duration of 10 days, at the end of the 5th day the progress should have been 50% but the actual reported progress is 40%. Status column shows the activity as "late". Is there any column where I can also get how much should have been the progress (i.e. 50% in this case)?
2. When we update the actual start date in the project tracking view, the Start date changes automatically. Can this be avoided?
Thanks,
JMN
Re: How to get the Actual% complete vs Planned % complete in MS Projects?
1. Use earned value analysis to show the difference between the Budgeted Cost of Work Scheduled (BCWS) and Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP) in dollars. You can also view Schedule Variance and have calculated for you a Schedule Performance Index (SP1). Do a search for Earned Value Analysis in Project 2007 volumes of information.
2. You should save a baseline [B]before/B] tracking any progress -- a baseline is also required for earned value analysis. The baseline start date is not updated and calculated for you is the difference between baseline start and actual start.
I hope this helps.
