Re: Unable to install BackTrack 5 on KDE
You told me that you are getting an error message while installing the BackTrack 5 on the computer. So post the entire error message which you are getting on the computer of yours. Let me know about the computer configuration of yours. Do you have done any recent changes on the computer of yours. Let me know the answers of the above mentioned questions so that I can figure out the root cause of the problem.
Re: Unable to install BackTrack 5 on KDE
If you are getting Input/output error: '/target/pentest/enumeration/lanmap2/ref/cache-web/bittorrent.org' error message on the computer than I am suspecting that there would be an issue with the hard disk which you are using. You have to see that there is something wrong with the hard disk or not. Also you have to see that cooler environment of the system of yours. so you might need to replace the hard disk of yours and see whether it is working or not.
Re: Unable to install BackTrack 5 on KDE
Well looking at the situation I am suggesting following command which you should run on the computer of yours.
Code:
rm /root/.kde/cache-root/icon-cache.kcache
rm /root/.kde/cache-root/plasma_theme_Volatile.kcache
rm /root/.kde/cache-bt/icon-cache.kcache
rm /root/.kde/cache-bt/plasma_theme_Volatile.kcache
you have to run the rm commands multiple at the time of the install as well as upgrade process.
Also you should remove the cache folder by using the following command.
Code:
rm -rf /var/tmp/kdecache-<username>
Re: Unable to install BackTrack 5 on KDE
Let me know whether you have managed to fix the matter or not. If there is no change in the situation then I recommend that you have to run the following command on the terminal.
Code:
kwriteconfig --file kwinrc --group Compositing --key Enabled --type bool false
after running the command you should restart the computer of yours and see whether it is working or not.
Re: Unable to install BackTrack 5 on KDE
If the Startx is unable to launch then you have to use the following command on the terminal.
Code:
rm /root/.kde/cache-root/icon-cache.kcache
rm /root/.kde/cache-root/plasma_theme_Volatile.kcache
rm /root/.kde/cache-bt/icon-cache.kcache
rm /root/.kde/cache-bt/plasma_theme_Volatile.kcache
you have to install the VirtualBox Guest Additions you need to have the kernel source by using the following command.
Code:
prepare-kernel-sources
cd /usr/src/linux
cp -rf include/generated/* include/linux/
