Problem with MSI K8T Master2-FAR (MS-9130)
Hello, I have K8T Master2 FAR with dual Opteron 246. Whenever I use to flash with BIOS V1.4,
- It shows 4gb RAM
- and Shows 1 CPU on OS (ubuntu 10.10)
* And when I use to flash with BIOS V1.3B5
- Its Fails to identify 4gb RAM
- And Shows 2 CPU on OS (ubuntu 10.10)
- Shuts down randomly
* When I flash with BIOS V1.1
- its Fails to identify all 4gb RAM
- Shows 2 CPU on OS (ubuntu 10.10)
- While booting ubuntu boot loader show message to upgrade BIOS.
And after searching for MSI website on internet I only able to find out (1.0, 1.1 and 1.4). And I had a copy of V1.35 installed on my System.so please suggest me that which version should I used on this motherboard that is compatible with. And Right now I am using 400W PSU.
Yours help will be appreciable to me. Thanks in advance.
Re: Problem with MSI K8T Master2-FAR (MS-9130)
Hi there, As per till now 1.35 is the best, version so my suggestion will be to stick the same version and don’t unnecessary switch to another version, if it not creating any trouble, something upgrading to latest version is good but something they are not meant to support Former Processors. So Use BIOS V 1.35, as it’s a best version in my knowledge, It is easily available on Net, From where you can download it for free. The shutdown is seemed to be something else, like a underpowered or overheating trouble.
Re: Problem with MSI K8T Master2-FAR (MS-9130)
First you need to change a power supply with about >35A @ 12V single to supply power to that. A simple 400W can't cope with your existing power supply. The main thing is what, the Watts doesn’t matter here but the 12V amps, 12V amps is thing to be concern, so and change your power supply and the shutdown problem will be solved most probably. If even after that you are facing problem than state that problem here. I will surly try to find out the other way to get solution of this.
Re: Problem with MSI K8T Master2-FAR (MS-9130)
And this board doesn't support Dual core. So as my suggestion better don’t try it, as it can create problem for your board and even for the CPU. So it will not work as the 9130 can only adjust 130nm CPU's. So better don’t attempt it, don’t do such experiments, you can confirm it with developers to about it, they will too states you same thing. So better don’t harm your system unnecessarily. It performs as it is.
