Problem in computer startup after increasing 1gb of ram
I am using my computer from last 2 years, it is running absolutely fine. My PC configuration is
1 D845GVSR MOTHERBOARD.
2 40 GB HDD
3 512MB RAM
4 WINDOWS XP
Yesterday i bought a new RAM of 1gb and inserted into the slot besides my old RAM. When I started my pc it got hanged, i again restarted my pc but after rebboting it again got hanged. So i removed the new RAM and again started the pc with the old one. It was working fine. Can someone help me to figure out this problem.
Re: Problem in computer startup after increasing 1gb of ram
Before buying a new RAM have you checked whether which slot does your motherboard support. You must first remove the old Ram from your computer and compare it with a new one. I think D845gvsr usually support DDR Ram. So the new one must be of DDR type.
Re: Problem in computer startup after increasing 1gb of ram
I think the your processor is an old one which might just support maximum of 1 GB RAM. Since your old configuration already had 512GB Ram adding extra 1GB will lead to extend the minimum compatibility which it supports. So your computer might get hanged up after inserting extra RAM.
Re: Problem in computer startup after increasing 1gb of ram
I was also facing the same problem a few weeks ago when i tried to increase my PC RAM from 1GB to 2 GB. However, my motherboard supports ddr2 slot. The solution for your problem can be that go in the bios, there you will find an option called "dram configuration" . Click that option and change the setting to 166 and you be able to run your computer very well.
Re: Problem in computer startup after increasing 1gb of ram
Since the other slot of your motherboard was vacant for along time it might be that the dust particals would have gathered onto the slot. So you can use a brush or a cloth to wipe the slot and again insert the RAM into the slot to see if it works or not.
