Which resolution Have to set 1280X960 or 1280X1024??
I am using a CRT monitor and confused concerning which resolutions to place between 1280X960 or 1280X1024? A number of say people suggest me that 1280X1024 is better, but when I set it to that resolution, the characters appear extended or sort of fat. 1280X960 appears usual. I just desire to be acquainted with which is the right settings to set it? Also, since I have a Geforce 7800 GT, should I put out of action Trill near filtering? I heard Trill near filtering is for older cards that are why. Any clarification would be helpful.

Trill near filter is what "came previous to" Anti-aliasing anti-dent filter so the order of ant aliasing is bilinear, trills near, AAx2, AAx4, AAx6, and AAx8. It depends on the monitor you have. Decide the mode you see well. If you experience the image is stretched in a number of direction, try after that resolution setting.

If the 1280x1024 appears extend then utilize no matter what resolution that fits in your screen correctly. I utilize 1280x1024 on mine and it seems better than the standard 1024x768, it is smoother. The higher resolution the enhanced but it is able to harshly affect your systems performance in gaming. So It is now depend up to you.
Re: Which resolution Have to set 1280X960 or 1280X1024??
Your monitor has a 4:3 ratio. 1280x960 translates to the similar ratio so if you choose this resolution, the pixels on your screen will be four-sided figure. 1280x1024 is a 1.25 ratio. Is all of this applicable? Not actually. Most, if not all software is able to grip non square pixels so you are able to so immediately regulate your monitor settings to obtain the correct display of the graphics on the screen. Why is 1280x1024 enhanced? You obtain more pixels on the screen nicer image. If you obtain extended images swindle with your monitor controls until it looks ok once more. The quantity of pixels on your screen has no straight relation with how they are put on show, your monitor has sure internal presets that it applies when getting a signal but you are not able to modify those to get the properly sized image on your screen. For myself with that card I believe you should go to 1600x1200 if your monitor is able to handle it at 85Hz or up. Go as high as your card can handle while retaining a good frame rate.

I have read all the replies which are given in this thread. And if you want to take my opinion then I am totally agree with the user who is replied just before to me. Actually I am also thinking that 1280x960 is probably best for your monitor and it is also a true 4:3 format. So if you really want then just go for this resolution which I have mentioned here.

I be acquainted with this is an elderly thread, but I am now a little curious out at this time with 1280x1024, should not the image look extended in the perpendicular direction or in other words, the characters should come into view thinner. Are you able to confirm this, since its driving me nuts and I do not have a monitor that I am able to swindle around with.

I have also faced this issue for many times. And currently I have no any issue related to this. So here I just want to tell you that since you are compressing the 1280x1024 just to fit in to the 1280x960 form. So fitting the 960 in to the 1024 would stretch this. I think this could be the one reason. So just check this I hope it will also start to work like mine is doing.
