gigabyte GeForce GTS 250 + asus m2n mx se plus
Had XFX GeForce 9800 GT card - gone bad - blocks on screen, then dots & not see in Device manager- Removed, re set & works at time & then back to same problems. I haven't another machine to test it on but it looks like the card.
Looking at : Gigabyte GV-N250-1GI GeForce GTS 250 Video Card - 1024MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, DVI, VGA, HDMI, SLI as a replacement as i have a Gigabyte MB I plan to assemble later if I can get a replacement for the 9800 from XFX.
My system is MB: ASUS M2N-MX SE plus and AM+2 cpu, 4 gig ram, 450 psu
& PCIe2 slot.
Question 1: Anyone using the gigabyte card on the M2N ASUS board ?
Question 2:Heard of any problems out there with that card ?
I looked at a number of other card but I found that there were problems with those cards.
Question 3: Anyone have any luck getting a replacement card from XFX ?
thanks for tips. w
Re: gigabyte GeForce GTS 250 + asus m2n mx se plus
I assume that GeForce GTS 250 video card needs power connector from the psu? As I can see you have a 450 Watts power supply only, which might be the problem here. You could also try to cleanly install the OS and then install the latest graphics driver. It could be a ram issue as well. Atlast, if it is under warranty then try to RMA it and get a replacement card.

Thanks for replying Hockson.
450 psu is the minimum for the gigabyte card ( unfortunately i already have a 405 psu which worked fine untill the XFX card fried & I have a spare 450 so i can't fork out $$ for a higher psu at present).
Yes the xfx card screwup might be ram but the whole system is only 18 months old and other posts i have read suggest that the problem is the card. I don't want to re install the os over again at present as i have to get critical files off onto a dvd first. I did install the latest driver & re loaded direct x 9.0c again. I'm out in the boonies and can't easily try the card in another machine so i'll try find the papers from my purchase & send off the xfx card hoping for a replacement.
