Re: Distributions 'LiveCD'
There are many different distributions created by different companies and organizations at prices affordable enough, which you ought to find in computer stores or bookstores. In the worst case you can always order them directly over the Internet to businesses and organizations that create them. Sometimes the computer magazines quite acceptable draw an issue of some distribution. A "LiveCD" is nothing other than a Linux distribution that works 100%, without installing on your computer where tested. Use the RAM on your computer to 'install' and start the distribution in question. The report also installs a "virtual drive" that emulates the last disk of a computer.
In this way need only insert the CD or DVD into the computer in question and starting, after a few minutes we will have a Linux operating system on it. This type of distribution is only for demonstration and testing, and once you turn off the computer, all you have done is gone. Some distributions, such as "LiveCD" also come with installation option once we have tested. There are many such distributions, some only in version "LiveCD", other demonstrations of distributions that can be installed in the traditional way. If you are curious and want to see and test only is this thing called Linux, I recommend making one of these distributions "LiveCD". You will not have to install or change anything on your computer to prove it.
Re: Distributions 'LiveCD'
Slackware
This distribution is the first that existed. He had a period in which not update very often, but that is history. It is rare to find users that began in the Linux world for some time, have not had this distribution installed on your computer at some point.
Gentoo
This distribution is one of the only ones that incorporated a totally new concept in Linux. It is a system based on BSD-ports. You can compile / optimize your system completely from scratch. It is not advisable to enter this distribution without a good internet connection, a fairly powerful computer (if you want to compile complete in a timely fashion) and some experience in Unix systems.
