Connectcomputer fail to add client computer
Hello,
We are using SBS 2003 with ISA 2004 with all patches and service packs. We were able to add client computers in the past using the http://servername/connectcomputer.
Recently, we are not able to add a computer to the network but get the following error:
Technical Information (for support personnel)
* Error Code 64: Host not available
* Background: The gateway or proxy server lost connection to the Web server.
* Date: 4/30/2010 7:30:37 PM
* Server: servername.domain.local
* Source: Remote server
We would appreciate any assistance on this.
Thanks
Re: Connectcomputer fail to add client computer
Hello,
Have you checked the entire configuration of the file. First check the DNS settings and the NIC ordering, also check the protocol binding. It may also be a error or problem in the implementation of the HTTP protocol. You can set this in the internet options (which is under tools), from there click on the advanced tab and there you need to configure the settings.
Re: Connectcomputer fail to add client computer
Which configuration file and DNS settings?
The problem shows up when I try to join different computer to SBS, so it is not unique to a specific computer. Incidentally my OWA is not working as well.
Thanks
Re: Connectcomputer fail to add client computer
You have to be sure that the primary DNS server on the client computers is the SBS...not obtain automatically. If I understand your setup correctly, it sounds like DNS is coming from your router...you don't want that. You want it to resolve locally first. Set the DNS to the SBS, restart the PC, then try...should work.
Re: Connectcomputer fail to add client computer
DNS is fine. The SBS is providing IP to the client computer without a problem.
Thanks
Re: Connectcomputer fail to add client computer
First on the SBS try to remove computeraccount and then you can put the worstation in a workgroup and then reboot your pc. Afterwards try to make the computeraccount on the SBS and then use your desired servername / connectcomputer on the workstatioin to join it to the domain. If ISA is installed on your server, make sure the Firewall client gets installed on the workstation and check that the LAN-settings in IE are pointing to your servername and port 8080.
