Proper Wallpaper Resolutions
I had installed Windows Xp on my system. My monitor resolution is been set at 1280x1024 resolution. Now the problem is that whenever i download any wallpapers, it can not be seen clearly. This is usually happens even if the wallpapers are set at 1280x768 or 1600x1200 resolution. So, i would like to know that what should be the proper resolution for wallpapers? Any one has any idea about it? Kindly provide me the correct solution for the above issue. Thanks.
Re: Proper Wallpaper Resolutions
There are 2 main groups of computer screen resolutions, the 4/3 group and the 16/10 group. Besides these, there are a few other groups like the 5/4, the 16/9 and the 11/6. To download a wallpaper, select a resolution from the pop-up menu underneath the preview image. This will enable the 'Download' button for that image. Note: your screen's resolution is 1024x768 pixels.
Re: Proper Wallpaper Resolutions
You have to remember the wallpaper doesn't get stretch rather the space on top of the displayed area gets divided depending on how many home screens you have. The best advice is to take always a wallpaper that has the exact resolution of your screen. You can also take a wallpaper of the same group, let's say a 800 x 600 wallpaper on a 1024 x 768 screen, both sizes being in the 4/3 group. In all the final wallpaper is still 640x480 but it overlaps in 3, 5, 7 etc places. Just think of each of the 'screens' overlapping to understand how the homescreen works.
Re: Proper Wallpaper Resolutions
Wallpaper is an image used as a background on a computer screen, usually for the desktop of a graphical user interface. If your computer is set to stretch the wallpaper, the 800 x 600 wallpaper will fill the 1024 x 768 screen without distortion since both sizes do have the same proportions of 4/3. But the sharpness of the image will suffer a little bit. However, if you take a wallpaper of another group, i.e. of other proportions, it will either not fill your screen or it will be seriously distorted.
Re: Proper Wallpaper Resolutions
Many people are searching for 1024 x 786 wallpapers. This is obviously a typo. They are probably looking for 1024 x 768 wallpapers. Images used as computer wallpaper are usually raster graphics with the same size as the display resolution (for example 1024×768 pixels, or 1280×1024 pixels) in order to fill the whole background.
Re: Proper Wallpaper Resolutions
Many screen resolutions are proportional in a 4:3 ratio, so an image scaled to fit in a different-sized screen will still be the correct shape, although that scaling may impact quality. Some people are searching for 1400 x 900 wallpapers. This is obviously a mismatch between the resolution of 1400 x 1050, which is a 4/3 format and the resolution of 1440 x 900, which is a 16/10 format. 1400 x 900 is not a current wallpaper format. Common wallpaper resolutions are connected to common desktop resolutions: 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 1600x1200.
