installing WSUS on 2008 R2 : The binaries are downloaded during the installation ?
I have got Windows 2008 R2 pc and I need to install WSUS on it. I have checked that we do not require to download the WSUS binaries on the 2008 R2 since they are integrated to the operating system binaries. But when I click on the installation role for WSUS then the installation fails with an error message that states "The update could not be found" since the server cannot connect to internet. Do we need Windows 2008 R2 to download the source from the internet? Thanks for any information.

Actually the binary are not integrated to the OS but they are downloaded from the microsoft update. You will also require internet connection for installing WSUS as a role on Windows Server 2008 R2. There are two ways to install WSUS3SP2 on Windows Server 2008 R2:
- By configuring the Win2008R2 to synchronize from a WSUS Server and approve KB972493 on the WSUS Server.
- And by connecting the server to the Internet and download the Dynamic Installer via MU.

Thanks for the solution. But can you also tell me whats the difference between the dynamic installed that you have mentioned and this download http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en (offline file).
