I just bought a plug and play retractable gamepad. How do you get it to work.
It says it is intalled and hardware is working fine. When i do the test on it
all of the buttons light up. But when i go to play a game I can not get it to
work. Do I have to play only certain games for this to work? If not how do I
get it to work? Am I suppose to turn off my keyboard? If yes then How?
Without knowing what gamepad you've got it is a bit difficult to assist you.
Have you tried the support section for the product you bought?
I'm sorry, I can't find any information on a PC controller from that
company, only console gamepads. Are you sure there is no information in the
instructions for a home page or web site? If there isn't anything, perhaps
someone will drop by with more information to help you.
ok, i have the same issue,, I might be able to elaborate a little further..
the controller is available at Wal-Mart (which possibly explains why it isnt available on the gemini page at Philips, that seems to happen a lot with some Wal-Mart bought items)
the issue comes when XP (im running SP2, so that could be part of the problem.. but im not 100% sure) finds (or shall we say tries to find) the device.. what ends up happening is it installs it as an unknown device.. the instruction book for the controller says that XP will find it as a HID device and install the proper drivers, at which time you can install the software for the controller config settings, etc.
I've tried manually installing the HID drivers when i plug the controller in, but i cant find any listing for HID's with SP2
im running a nforce2 ultra chipset..i've gone to the nvidia site, and checked to see if my mobo drivers are up-to-date (which they are)
Check to see if you have a VIA USB chipset. If so you may need updated USB
drivers before your system will correctly recognise the controller.
You can try here for updated drivers.

Let me know if that still doesn't work. You can send me a dxdiag of your
system too and I can see if I see something wrong there.
DXDIAG:
1. Click Start -> Run
2. Type "dxdiag" without the quotes and press Ok.
3. In the DirectX Diagnostic tool click "Save All Information..."
Well they seem to have the drivers and the support for the site of the
game controller now.. so if you would like here is the web site..
I know this is an old thread but I wound up having the same problem.
What I finally did was just to uninstall the program in the add/remove
programs screen. After that it worked fine. Maybe this will help somone
else who might have one hanging out in the closet.
I've got a different problem than most. I have the Phillips Retractable PC controller. after a few rewinds, the cord kinked over, and eventually severed. I am trying to fix it, but I need a wiring diagram. can anyone provide one for me?
I tried replacing the cord with a Cat5 cable, as it has 8 wires like the cord I severed. I got the whole thing together, tested it, and guess what: I wired it incorrectly. it started to vibrate in my hands. to make a long story short, I believe I have already voided the warranty.
Oh well. I'll just have to try it again...
Honestly, retractable controllers suck. You're better off either buying a
controller with a true wire (as they never register a disconnect when the
controller acidentally winds back or bends the wrong way) or to get a
wireless one for an extra twenty bucks. Another problem with the
retractables is that when they disconnect and reconnect, you almost always
have to recalibrate the joysticks. As for a wiring diagram, that kind of
thing is rarely released in terms of controllers, especially for ones that
are for the PC. Your best bet would be to play around with google, or to
mail the manufacturer (but they'll most likely tell you no). Didn't the
product come with a limited warranty?
I managed to find a Wireless controller that didn't bust the budget, so never mind.
