Allow user to control a virtual machine
Is there a way to make it possible for a user to control a virtual machine. I created a Windows 98 virtual machine to use an old application. Is it possible to give access to a virtual machine to a user as an RDP for example? I think that VMplayer, yes but there is something more simple?
Re: Allow user to control a virtual machine
It depends what version you use VMWare. If it is a VMWare Server, simply install the management console on another computer to access the virtual machine. But I do not know how they do...
Re: Allow user to control a virtual machine
Yes, I have VMWare Server 2.0. For management console do you think vmware player worth? So it's not top of most since I have Windows 98 to the TSE to a server, so a console connection is not bad.
Re: Allow user to control a virtual machine
From memory, when you install VMware Server, you can choose to install only the console. And when you throw the console, instead of validating Local Host, simply point to your VMware Server.
Re: Allow user to control a virtual machine
VMware includes a command-line tool called vmrun. This tool allows you to perform a lot of things to be performed on VMware based virtual machines without having to use any of the graphical user interfaces. The utility is not only used for vmware-server, it is able to control VMware Workstations as well.
