Cannot access root directory on xp
I'm running windows xp on both my laptop and my desktop, both connected to a linksys router and i have enabled all file and printer sharing options and enable sharing of the root directory ( c ) on my desktop, but I can't access the root directory. I get an error message :Error code: 0x80070005 Access is denied.
Re: Cannot access root directory on xp
This issue is most likely caused by the firewall or anti-virus on the Windows XP computer. I suggest that you disable the security programs in Windows XP as a testand make sure that the groups/users in folder under security tab matched the same groups/users in the Sharing tab.
Re: Cannot access root directory on xp
Open Windows Explorer > Right-click on the folder you want to share > Click on "Properties" > open the Security tab, and then click the Add button > Click on "Advanced" > Click on "Everyone" and then click "OK" button and then "OK" again >Click "Apply" and then "OK".
Re: Cannot access root directory on xp
- Right-click the folder, and then click Sharing and Security.
- Click to select the Share this folder on the network check box
- Click to clear the Allow network users to change my files check box, and then click OK.
