Iconcache.db size increasing
Hello to everyone,
I have the XP home edition, I have noticed that iconcache, db file increasing in size automatically. From last 2 days it has increased in size more than 10 MB. And i'm not installing any program or adding any icon in XP. Can you say me the reason why its growing like this?
Re: Iconcache.db size increasing
An IconCache.db file can be deleted and it will be recreated again on the nest boot as increase in file size to the maximum size set for it as long as new icons are cached in it. If ICons file sizes are for KB (kilobytes in upper case), they do not appear to be in the normal file size range for an IconCache.db file. However, if they're for kb they could be in the normal file size range for an IconCache.db file.
Re: Iconcache.db size increasing
If it has become bloated due to corruption then it will be rebuilt properly when you'll delete it by windows. Windows will cache each icon displays in Explorer, you adds several to the cache file because more .exe icons. You must having more number of programs in your start menu, every one of which has an icon which is cached.
Re: Iconcache.db size increasing
Have you turn off the thumbs.db file ? Its not required anywhere. And you can turn off its from Folder options. In the Tools menu-> Folder Options-> View tab select Do not cache thumbnails and apply the setting to all folders. Hope this will help
