Acer Crystal Eye WebCam causing Blue Screen
I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 150-1570, and have been very happy with it ...until today.
The PC comes with a built-in webcam, Acer's "Crystal Eye Webcam". Haven't had any problems with it.
I'm running Windows XP Home and recently did a windows update.
Today, however, when I went to use it, I immediately got a "Blue Screen of Death" from Windows, with the following Stop error:
0x0000007E
0xC0000005
0xEC171B86
OxEBFCF9FC
0xEBFCF6F8
snp2uvc.sys - Address: EC11A90B base at EC111000 Datestamp 47009ae
This is one of the driver files for the crystal eye webcam
dated 5/16/08 v5.8.33.1
Thinking that this was a driver problem, I uninstalled the device and reinstalled the latest version of the driver which I downloaded from the ACER website. That didn't cure the problem. I then tried to restore the driver back to the original driver version that came with the PC when I bought it - same result. So, now I'm kind of stumped.
I'm suspecting that windows update may have caused this, but don't know what the solution is.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Acer Crystal Eye WebCam causing Blue Screen
Go to device manager and there locate the web cam driver. Right-Click on it and click properties. There select Rollback Driver. If it works, then great, but if it doesn't work try this : choose to upgrade the driver and select manual installation. And force install the previous driver. May be this could fix the problem... All the best! :thumbup1:

This issue might occur if a system thread generates an exception that the error handler does not catch.
Solution :
- Make sure that you have sufficient hard disk space
- Update the computer BIOS
- Disable or update device drivers
- Remove unsigned drivers
- Remove all third-party drivers
- Remove third-party remote control services

Re: Acer Crystal Eye WebCam causing Blue Screen
To work around this problem you need to use the Disk Defragmenter tool, follow these steps:
- To start the Defragmentation tool, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
- Click on Disk Management, and then click Disk Defragmenter.
- Select a volume to defragment, and then click the Defragment button.
- After the Defragmentation Completed dialog box is displayed, click the Close button.
- Wait until the Analysis and Defragmentation displays are updated and the volume is enumerated. You may see a Resizing the color image message as the displays are being updated.
- Exit the Defragmentation tool.
