Re: How Fdisk can be used to display the partition table
Fdisk is started by typing (as root) Fdisk device at the command prompt.
To be successful in creating Fdisk you need to know the following commands:
p command to print the partition table
n command to create a new partition
d command to delete a partition
q command to quit without saving changes
w command to write the new partition table and exit
Re: How Fdisk can be used to display the partition table
This is an attempt to direct people to more specific fdisk help/utilities. Hard disks can be divided into one or more logical disks called partitions. This division is described in the partition table found in sector 0 of the disk. people with large disks often create a third partition, This third partition of a hard drive will be the first 1024 cylinders of the disk, typically mounted on /boot, to store the kernel image. Access the Administrative Tools (from Control Panel or Accessories or System Tools seems to change with diferent installations and configurations) and look for and open DISK MANAGEMENT.fdisk is a menu driven program for creation and manipulation of partition tables. It understands DOS type partition tables.fdisk do not understand GUID Partition Table (GPT) and it is not designed for large partitions. In particular case use more advanced GNU.
