Adding sites to Internet Explorer's restricted site
I have a computer and use Vista Ultimate on it. My younger brother doesn't know much about internet and clicks on any spam link that he finds attractive. How to i add some sites to Internet Explorer's Restricted Site section? I have seen the restricted site icons on the status bar of Internet Explorer for many site. I could instruct my brother to close the site when that icon is seen. Can anyone help?
Re: Adding sites to Internet Explorer's restricted site
Use Content Advisor instead of using Restricted Websites. Restricted Websites will just show a restricted icon at the bottom but there will be no restrictions of content viewing on website. If you use Content Advisor, it will not allow the added websites to open. Also to unlock the website you will need to disable content advisor which will require a password. So this method is much more secure then Restricted websites method. :thumbup1:
Re: Adding sites to Internet Explorer's restricted site
I don't want to import any restrictions, else he won't learn. All i want to do is add some sites which i know may be containing infected contents. So if he sees the restricted icon and see which type of content is maximum infected he coulud also learn to use the internet accordingly. Else everything is fine as i can take the risk. I have a great antivirus program and a good firewall too... Please help!
Re: Adding sites to Internet Explorer's restricted site
If you can risk your computer, you can can use the Restricted Website method of Internet Explorer. Here is how to do it :
- Open Internet Explorer
- Click on Tools menu > Internet Options
- Click Security Tab > Sites button
- Add the site you want to restrict in the bar and click Add button
- Add as many sites you want and then click Close button at bottom right
- Restart Internet Explorer and try to visit the Restricted Websites
