Nikon D90 lenses and autofocus
D90 is Nikon AF-S DX 18-105 mm zoom lens
The Nikon D90 features an F-mount which can accommodate most Nikkor lenses, with the DX-format sensor resulting in their field of view being reduced by 1.5 times. As with all Nikon DSLRs, you’ll need recent lenses to support the full focusing and metering modes. Standard test sample was supplied with an AF-S DX 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR zoom lens, a range that corresponds to 27-157,5 mm mm format. Live View in Nikon D90
Live View is also a nice feature, which is not even that long ago 'unthinkable' for a DSLR camera but now almost a 'must' appears to be. With the inclusion of Live View Nikon has already taken an advance on what the next generation digital SLR cameras ever a 'standard' could be Video mode. For the purists, it is like swearing in church, but the innovative progress is simply not to stop. For the purists such as the swearing in church, but the innovative once progress is not to stop. Nikon D90 metering, exposures
The Nikon D90 offers three main metering modes: Spot, Centre-weighted and 3D Colour Matrix II. These are selected by pressing and holding the metering button on the camera’s top surface while turning the thumb dial. The meter seems identical to the D300 and D3. The defective meter of the D40 and D80, which often overexposed, is gone.
The D90 offers shutter speeds from 1/4000 to 30 seconds plus a Bulb option. Exposure compensation is available in a wide range of +/-5EV in 0.3 or 0.5 steps. The shutter block is tested for 100,000 cycles, compared to 150,000 on the D300 / D700 and 300,000 on the D3.

Active D-Lighting
No longer new, Active D-Lighting keeps gaining enhancements. In addition to the Auto Active D-Lighting mode added with the Nikon D700, the Nikon D90 gains an Extra High setting to add even more punch to shadow detail. Note that JPEG files modified as they are captured with Active D-Lighting, so there's no unaltered "original" to refer back to: Consider whether you want top shoot RAW + JPEG to back up those files, or even use D-Lighting after capture if you think an image would benefit from the help.
Excellent ergonomics of Nikon D90
The ergonomics of the Nikon D90 is excellent. From ergonomics of the Nikon D90 is excellent. Nothing seems to be superfluous or, alternatively, to miss.. Added value, inter alia, the HDMI connection, an antibody system connector for an optional GPS unit (GP-1) and also the advanced 3D auto (D300/D700/D3) and AF tracking for a subject can be followed.Although the number of focus points is somewhat restricted with 11 units, but this number is sufficient to use these advanced focus.

Memory & Battery compartment
In the grip of the camera card slot is removed. A simple, but nicely finished lid provides adequate protection. The Nikon D90 supports Secure Digital and SDHC memory cards and is one of the first digital SLR cameras the new SanDisk Extreme III 30MB/sec SDHC cards fully supported. Underneath the handle is the EN-EL3e battery down. Bottom or handle the EN-EL3e battery down. Something from the middle of the bottom is a universal metal tripod connection placed.
Re: Nikon D90 digital camera
Pros:
- Active D-Lighting
- Live View Focus Modes
- Playback Tricks
- Easier selection of advance modes
- Easier Live View mode with dedicated button!
Cons:
- No ability to program the center OK button to zoom-in full-size in playback.
- No options for JPG optimization.
- No selection of NEF/raw characteristics.
Final words:
There’s no doubt the Nikon D90 is a very impressive DSLR, but like its predecessor, it’s more about enhanced features and superior handling, rather than greatly improved image quality. Don’t get us wrong, the D90’s stills look great, but they’re not a significant step-up from 10 Megapixel models, and as you can see in our Results pages, you can achieve very similar output with the cheaper Canon EOS 450D / XSi.
