IDE or SATA hdd?
Hi,
I want to buy a new hdd for my machine. The machine is old & i have only 2 SATA port available on the motherboard.
Now the question is whether to buy a SATA hdd or IDE?
Please guide me regarding this situation.
Will SATA vs IDE make any noticeable difference in the hard disk performance?

Re: IDE or SATA hdd?
Well in your case you will definitely experience the difference in the performance of SATA & IDE. Specially when data transfer is important.
I would suggest you to but a SATA hdd.

Re: IDE or SATA hdd?
The differences between SATA and PATA are mainly speed.
SATA uses thinner cables too. SATA runs from 100MB/sec, to 3OOMB/sec, and faster. IDE (PATA) started at 5MB, and runs up to 100MB/sec, at ATA100/133
In other words, if you can get an IDE hard drive cheaper than its SATA counterpart, you might as well go for it.

Re: IDE or SATA hdd?
DE to SATA can show a big difference in performance depending on the rpm on the drive. If you're looking for performance above anything upgrade to sata. SATA is easier to install and better for airflow through the case because it doesn't use a giant ribbon cable.
