Cybermedia cyberkrn.vxd problem
I recently installed latest Internet Explorer on my Windows XP installed computer. But I started getting the a file getting opened uselessly. So getting irritating by this, I deleted that file, but now when I start my computer I get the message saying Cybermedia cyberkrn.vxd is missing. What the hell is this? Can you explain me how to get rid of this problem?
Re: Cybermedia cyberkrn.vxd problem
This problem can occur if Cybermedia Oil Change is installed on your Computer and the Windows Desktop Update is enabled. To fix this, just follow the below steps:
Before editing the registry take a backup copy of the registry files. Now,
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Change the Oil Change string value data located under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run registry key to the following value (including quotation marks):
Quote:
"<drive>:\<path>\Cybermedia Oil Change\OCTray32.exe" Start
4. On the Registry menu, click Exit.
5. Click Start, click Shut Down, click Restart The Computer, and then click Yes.
Re: Cybermedia cyberkrn.vxd problem
Click on Start, Run, type "sysedit". "System Configuration Editor" windows opens up. Now click on "system.ini" window. Now go to Search on the menu bar, then type Find. Now type cyberkrn.vxd and click on Next. Delete the line that includes this line. If this doesn't work then try the same search in the "win.ini" and delete it from there.
Re: Cybermedia cyberkrn.vxd problem
This is basically a virtual extension driver file loaded by some third party software. So they must be loading system.ini file or from the registry.
The simplest way to solve this issue is to reinstall it. If you don't want it later on then you can remove it via Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
You can even follow the instructions provided earlier for system.ini or registry fix to solve the problem.
