How to fix idle hard drive noise
Hi,
I formated my computer with windows XP without ant installation problems. But when my computer is idle for 10-15 minutes, its hard drive starts working and making weird noise. Anyone know anything about this problem. How to solve this?
Need help!

Get the updated drivers from the manufacturer's website. Install or reinstall all the drivers like chipset drivers, graphics drivers, then the audio, ethernet/LAN. The chipset and audio drivers will be the most important.

This may happen because your drive gets hotter more quickly in your computer due to differences in computer cases. This might be thermal calibration (TCal) occurring.
Re: How to fix idle hard drive noise
Hard drive sound is affected by the setup. Idle noise is caused by the spinning motor and its bearings. Non-FDB drives often exhibit a high pitched whine. This noise is influenced by the case and the method of installation.
