Slow copy in windows vista

Hi,
I am running windows vista on my desktop. Whenever i try to copy, delete, move, etc. any file, it takes ages for the function. It is very slow as compared to windows XP. Anyone know how can i speed it up?

All suggestions are welcome.

Try Disabling Remote Differential Compression to speed up the all functions:

• Go to Control Panel
• Programs and Features
• Turn Windows Features on or off
• Untick Remote Differential Compresstion

Go to Microsoft article on The copy process may stop responding when you try to copy files from a server on a network to a Windows Vista-based computer. Use the Robocopy utility that is included with Windows Vista to copy the files. For example, type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER:
