what is wordpress? How to install Newer versions of wordpress.

Am newbie to the wordpress concept, and i wanted to know what is wordpress, and what do we need to do to install older version of wordpress. I dont know much about it but i just heard about this from my colleagues, so I am willing to know more about it. every suggestion would be appreciated.

You need access to your site and its directory and software to proceed with the installation. These are:

• An access to your web server (via shell or FTP)
• A text editor
• An FTP Client (if you need to install WordPress on a remote server)
• Your web browser of choice

Here are the following steps that need to follow Installation.

Step 1: Download WordPress
This may seem pretty obvious, because it is. First step, navigate on over to the download page at WordPress.org.

Step 2: Extract the files
When you will download the wordPress you will either download the zip file or tar.gz file you need to extract that file to your local machine's space or else it will ask for the default file location, click ok.

Step 3: Upload files to your host
You need to upload files directly from your computer to your hosting account. Open it up, type in your login details at the top and click the Quickconnect button.

Step 4: Set up the database
You need to configure your database and this is with the MySQL database whichever you feel comfortable with. You also need to setup username and password to your database security.

Step 5: Install WordPress
Once you have uploaded the WordPress folders and files to your hosting account and set up the database. Now it’s time to navigate to the URL you’ve installed it on via your web browser.you need to navigate the URL once this has done you will get an access to your website and installation completes.
