Outlook 2007 crashes with IMAP profile
I was using Outlook 2003 earlier and I was using IMAP profile without any problem in it. Now that I have configured IMAP profile for the newly installed Outlook 2007, it doesn't seem to start at all or sometimes crashes at the startup only. If I remove the IMAP profile and keep only POP profile, then it runs properly. What can be done to make Outlook 2007 to work with IMAP?
Re: Outlook 2007 crashes with IMAP profile
I think the crashes comes from having too much mail archived in your account. Outlooks 2007 tries to download all of them and simple can't handle it. I believe this is one of the known issues with IMAP.
Re: Outlook 2007 crashes with IMAP profile
Since you did not say what IMAP account that you are using, it is hard to be more specific.
- Is the IMAP server name and port set correctly?
- Using SSL security or not?
- Is the login name username only or full email address?
- Is the password posted correctly? Password is case sensitive.
- Make sure Secure Password Authentication is not selected.
- Is the email account server having trouble? If using Gmail, Gmail had IMAP troubles between 1 and 2 PM (GMT-7).
Re: Outlook 2007 crashes with IMAP profile
Do you have any anti spam apps configured, or any other outlook addins? How does Outlook behave if you start it using the safe switch?
Run Outlook.exe /safe
You dont 'have' to install your AV with the outlook intergration option, as such integration is a frequent cause of Outlook problems, neither does it afford you any greater protection since the AV real time detection should detect any nasty that try to install when you open a msg/attachment you should'nt.
Re: Outlook 2007 crashes with IMAP profile
If you use only Outlook 2007 as mail program and have Kaspersky antivirus, you can add outlook.exe to KAV Trusted Zone with option "Do not check traffic". KAV has anti-virus and anti-spam plugins in Outlook 2007 which have no troubles with traffic.
