As your email accounts and email applications change, it seems there is always a different way to get your contacts organized.Exporting your Gmail contact information is basically handled the same for you to use the file to import into any email application. Heres step by step process to import Google contacts to Microsoft Outlook:-
- First of all login to your Gmail account with ID and Password and than select Contacts and click to the “Export” at the top right corner.
- Choose the list of contact that you want to export and choose Outlook’s CSV format to allow the file to easily transfer into the application.
- The exported file will be named as “contact.csv” automatically. Now click the “Save” button to save the file.
- Now open Outlook and click File \ Import and Export and click “Next” to proceed.
- Next select “Comma Separated Values (DOS)” and click Next.
- Browse for the file created from Gmail and choose options about duplicate entries and continue by clicking Next.
- Choose the destination folder, e.g. Contacts under Personal Folders for your account, verify the action. The next screen basically verifies what we just did an also offers the option to change the destination or Map Custom Fields.
- Once done, click Finish to complete and thats all !!

The Map Custom Fields button in the Import a File dialog box might not be available when you try to import data from another program or file. In the The following actions will be performed box, select the Import check box, and then the Map Custom Fields button is available.

The Name field doesn't appear in the To box because Outlook reserves the first row of a named range or field names. If the range that you import does not contain field names, the first row of data will be interpreted as field names and will not be imported as data. To make sure that all of the data in the named range is imported, use the first row for field names.
